Behind the Scenes at the Pacific Southern Railway: Featured on CNJN’s Story Line

On November 18, 2022, the Pacific Southern Railway was honored to be featured in an episode of Story Line, a locally-produced series by Central New Jersey Network (CNJN). The episode offers an inside look at our club, our layout, and the passionate community of members who make it all possible.

Filmed on location in Rocky Hill, the video takes viewers on a guided tour through our 5,000 square foot HO scale layout — a museum-quality model railroad that has grown steadily since its founding in 1964. With over 12,000 feet of hand-laid track, a fully dispatched signal system, and regularly scheduled operations, the Pacific Southern isn’t just a model — it’s a functioning railroad in miniature.

The Story Line team spoke with members old and new, capturing what makes our club special: the camaraderie, the craftsmanship, and the commitment to sharing the joy of railroading with the public. From computer-controlled train dispatch to decades-old scenery details, the episode highlights both the technical complexity and human heart behind the railroad.

We’re deeply grateful to CNJN — a nonprofit community television station — for showcasing our work. Their mission to spotlight local organizations aligns beautifully with our own efforts to inspire curiosity, preserve railroad history, and give back to the Rocky Hill community. The production was made possible by CNJN’s talented team of volunteers and student contributors, and we’re proud to have been part of it.

Whether you're a longtime member, a first-time visitor, or a railfan from afar, we invite you to enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at the Pacific Southern Railway — and consider joining us on the journey ahead.
