FMC 5347 Back Story:
FMC or Food Machinery Corporation, was a significant builder of 50-foot boxcars at their Portland, OR plant. Particularly during the "incentive per diem" boom of the 1970s. These boxcars, often seen in vibrant short line paint schemes, became a foundation for the new per diem cars of the 70s and 80s. The Atlas Master series FMC 5347 boxcar is a perfectly scaled replica of the most iconic modern boxcar design, these FMC 5347s can still be seen on the rails today.
